Valerian, also called Valeriana, is a herbaceous plant that is widely distributed. Valerian is known by various names such as cat's wort, stingwort or witch's wort.
Valerian has the opposite effect on cats as on humans. The cause of your cat behaving as if it is drugged is due to the ingredients that produce the odor we perceive as a stink. Valeric acid is responsible for this.
Cats love the strong smell of valerian!
